Last year, the indoor ski hall SNØ stepped up its focus on events by hiring a dedicated events manager. Over the past year, the number of events at SNØ has doubled.
"We make it easy for adults to have fun," says events manager Hanne Egge Hveem (32).
Hanne was hired in August last year and has since worked purposefully to attract more events to SNØ.
"My goal is for adults to have fun again. This is important for both team-building activities and summer parties, and it’s exciting to see how playful people can become when they come to SNØ," she says.
Important Measures Taken Over the past year, companies such as DNB, Skanska, EY, PWC, Coop, and Visma have hosted events at SNØ. Overall, the number of events has doubled compared to the same period the previous year.
"We have taken several measures and developed a range of concepts that have become popular. Everything from winter games to parallel slalom, and people participate regardless of their background or skill level. If they don’t want to ski, we organize a sledding competition instead. We’ve had several hundred people here at the same time, so our capacity is good," she says.
"But the most important thing I’ve done is simply to make more people aware of what’s possible here. For many companies, this has probably been an offer that flew under the radar. Now, I actively reach out to companies and tell them everything they can do here. Most of them are going to have a summer party or Christmas party, so the potential is huge," Hanne adds.
The venue also has its own restaurant, which often provides catering for events. At the end of May, an enormous SNØcastle was built inside the ski hall.
"It is one of Europe’s largest indoor SNØcastles and will play an important role in our future events," she says.
Although most events are corporate, SNØ also hosts many private gatherings. The venue has long been popular for birthday parties and bachelor/bachelorette parties.
"We recently hosted a 50th birthday party with guests aged 17 to 70. We decorated with balloons, served drinks from the ice bar, played music, and organized a sledding relay with obstacles. It was wonderful to see everyone having fun together, regardless of age," Hanne says.

Now Moving Before becoming events manager at SNØ, Hanne was the restaurant and events manager at Sørmarka Conference Hotel. She has also worked as general manager of several cafés and as a store manager.
"I have always enjoyed working with people and providing excellent service. My husband saw this job posting and thought I would be perfect for it. He was right," she says.
Hanne, her husband, and their daughter will soon be moving closer to her new job.
"I’m from Nordstrand and have wanted to live in Oslo for years. My husband is from Bjørkelangen and works for Lillestrøm municipality, so now it’s his turn to decide. I’m fully convinced. We’re about to start a new chapter, and by the end of the year we’ll be moving to Marikollåsen in Rælingen. It’s a brand-new residential area surrounded by nature, while still being close to work, Lillestrøm, and Oslo," Hanne says.
