Cookie Policy
How do we use cookies and other tracking technology?
Cookie Policy
On www.snooslo.no we use cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage) to make the website work, to remember your preferences, to understand how the site is used, and — only if you allow it — for marketing purposes. This Cookie Policy explains what these technologies are, which ones we use, and how you can control them.
Cookies are small text files stored on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. Some are essential for the site to function; others help us improve the site or show you more relevant content.
You can manage your cookie choices at any time via "Manage cookie settings" in the cookie banner or website footer.
Cookie categories
We group cookies into four categories, matching the choices you can make in our cookie settings:
- Necessary — always active, cannot be turned off, as the site cannot function properly without them.
- Functional — remember your choices and preferences across visits.
- Analytics — help us understand how visitors use the site, so we can improve it.
- Marketing — used to show you relevant advertising and measure its performance.
Only "Necessary" cookies are set automatically. All others are only set after you actively accept that category.
Necessary cookies
user-token— keeps you signed in to My SNØ. Stored as a secure, httpOnly cookie that cannot be read by scripts on the page. Set by snø.no, stored for up to 1 year.is-logged-in— tells the website whether you are currently logged in to My SNØ, so the correct pages and content can be shown. Set by snø.no, stored for up to 1 year.locale— remembers whether you have chosen Norwegian or English, so you don't need to select it again. Set by snø.no, stored for up to 1 year.__stripe_midand__stripe_sid— used by our payment provider, Stripe, to recognise your session and prevent fraud while you complete a purchase. We never store your card details on our own servers. Set by Stripe:__stripe_midfor 1 year,__stripe_sidfor 30 minutes.
Functional cookies (optional)
If you accept this category, we use local browser storage to remember things like the contents of your shopping cart and certain display preferences between visits. If you decline, these preferences are not saved and you may need to re-enter them on your next visit.
Analytics cookies (optional)
We use Google Analytics 4, delivered via Google Tag Manager, to understand how visitors use our site (e.g. which pages are visited, how long, and via which route) so we can improve it. Your IP address is anonymised. These cookies are only set if you accept the Analytics category.
_ga— distinguishes unique visitors. Set by Google Analytics, stored for 2 years._gid— distinguishes visitors within a shorter time window. Set by Google Analytics, stored for 24 hours._ga_<container-id>— persists session state for Google Analytics 4 so a visit is measured correctly across pages. Set by Google Analytics, stored for 2 years.
Some content pages may also include additional third-party embeds (e.g. videos, maps) configured by our editorial team, which are only activated once you accept the relevant category.
Marketing cookies (optional)
Used to measure and improve the relevance of ads, for example ads you see on other websites and on social media after visiting ours. These are only set if you accept the Marketing category. Our marketing cookies are currently set by Google (Google Ads) and Meta (Facebook and Instagram), via Google Tag Manager. Meta may also use local storage in your browser for the same purposes. Depending on active campaigns, marketing cookies may additionally be set by other third parties (for example advertising or social media partners) via Google Tag Manager.
_gcl_au — stores and measures conversions from Google Ads campaigns you may have clicked on before arriving at our website. Set by Google Ads, stored for 90 days.
_fbp — used by Meta to recognise your browser across visits, so we can measure the effectiveness of our ads and show you more relevant advertising on Facebook and Instagram. Set by Meta via snø.no, stored for 90 days.
_fbc — stores information about the ad you clicked if you arrived at our website via an ad on Facebook or Instagram, so the click can be linked to a possible purchase. Set by Meta via snø.no, stored for 90 days.
Security and error monitoring
We use a monitoring tool (Sentry) to detect technical errors and keep the website secure and stable. This may occasionally record anonymised technical information about how a page behaved when an error occurred. This is considered strictly necessary to keep the service safe and working, and is not used for marketing or profiling.
Managing cookies in your browser
In addition to our cookie settings, you can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser's settings. Note that blocking necessary cookies may mean parts of the site — such as login or checkout — do not work correctly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the cookies and technologies we use. We recommend checking this page periodically.
